Filottrano behind the Riviera of Conero

Filottrano is a country of ancient origin, surrounded by greenery and quiet of a hilly landscape, typical of the Marche.
You will not find many hotels, camping, residence as the nearby Riviera del Conero, but you can relax and refresh in Farmhouses, Country House Bed and Breakfast lost in the beautiful hills of the Marches!

Filottrano is now a beautiful city just off two major centers, Jesi and Osimo, and has a long history : already in antiquity the place it should be noted the presence of the Piceno civilization, before the Celtic rule. Later it was probably a flourishing Roman municipality.
The name of Filottrano, which derives from Mons Filiorum Optrani, dates back to 1100 and even then the center was a free city, struggling with the nearby Cingoli and Osimo, for reasons of border and territorial supremacy.
In this regar devery year in Filottrano relives the contention of the boot, which recalls an episode really curious : during one of many struggles, a knight esino was about to be captured by filottranesi and escaped, leaving only a boot in their hands. That boots it became a symbol of revenge on Osimani and was brought each year, at the foot of a puppet for the town's streets.
Today it is a contention that, in the month of August, recalls the curious incident.

Filottrano has always maintained and still has memories of the past, just think that in the town, in the historic Palazzo Beltrami - Lucchetti, there is a museum which is home to numerous carts, old farm wagon at one time widespread in all the campaigns of the Marches.
