COUNTRY HOUSE AIRONE IN GENGA
The Airone Country House is distinguished by its quiet by nature, and for the welcome and hospitality, typical of the people of Genga.
Genga is a small medieval village, surrounded by towering walls of an ancient castle that was the residence of the ancient rulers of these lands, the accounts of Genga, whose family owned a pope, Annibale, in 1823 under the name of Leone. In our day the Castle of Genga, located 352 meters above sea level, it retains the atmosphere of a time, with the walls, the entrance port, the narrow streets, old buildings, the charming views of the green woods surrounding it.
In its vast communal territory there are Frasassi Caves, with its famous caves and Grotta del Santuario, within which stands the temple of Valadier, an interesting building with an octagonal dome covered in bronze.
Not far away, just outside the throat, we find San Vittore, with its famous abbey, one of the most beautiful Romanesque monuments of the Marches, the Roman bridge over the river Sentino and the spa that uses sulfuric water.
Among the most important events of the place is recalled the traditional Living Nativity (Presepe Vivente) whose representation is held along the access road to the cave that houses the shrine of Madonna of Frasassi. For the landscape, the number of participants, the magnificence of the costumes and the variety of scenes is fully counted among the most picturesque in Italy.
