The Abbey of San Pietro on the Monte Conero
The Abbey of San Pietro stands mysterious and lonely at the top of Monte Conero.

Together with the Church of Santa Maria, is the spiritual part of the Riviera del Conero and Monte Conero gives a sacred aspect since the High Middle Ages.
It is probable that below the Church, we have the structure or the remains of a temple dedicated to Goddess Pamplona, protector of sailors.
The Church was born thanks to a donation made by some patrons of Sirolo in favor of the Benedictine monks, the true patrons of the Church, Monastery of the surroundings, as well as paths and caves typical of Monte Conero.
If you walk along the paths of Mount Conero, you can live the prayers, meditations of monks many centuries ago.
The most outstanding feature of this jewel of the Romanesque style, are the capitals that adorn the inner aisles.
The church during World War II was bombed, but then quickly rebuilt and refurbished.
Adjacent to the Abbey of San Pietro you can find one of the most important historical houses in the Riviera del Conero : the Monteconero Hotel and its restaurant.
